With the Foreign Medical Graduate Exam (FMGE) results 2022 being released on July 2, Saturday at The National Board of Examinations (NBE) official website -- natboard.edu.in., many candidates have expressed their displeasure over the alleged irregularities in the results.

“Many of us are not able to make sense of the results that have come out. With only 10-11% of the candidates passing the June 2022 examination compared to 25% in December, it’s a huge fall in percentage,” said Kaustubh Bhattamishra, who studied in the Philippines. “The result which was supposed to come out by June 30 also got delayed by two days,” added Kaustubh who said candidates who haven’t qualified are worried about FMGE not having provisions for re-evaluation.

What has the NBE said about it?

Through an official note in July 2021, the National Board of Examinations (NBE) clarified that no re-evaluation will be conducted for candidates who wish to appear for the exam. “There shall be no revaluation or rechecking or re-totaling of the responses marked by the candidates. Requests for re-evaluation/re-totaling shall not be entertained,” as per the NBE notice,” said the notice by NBE.

"Why no answer keys?," ask candidates

Other candidates say answer keys, which are normally provided to the ones who have attended national examinations, should be provided to them too.

“Every year FMGE candidates are not provided with answer keys or answer sheets while also prohibiting us from sharing any contents of FMGE exam in verbal or written form, electronic or otherwise,” said Diwakar Saraswat, an MBBS graduate from Harbin University in China.

Candidates take to Twitter to express concerns

The candidates were not just raising their concerns offline but also online with a bunch of tweets directed at the conduct of FMGE.

“FMGE June 2022 results show about 10% pass rate, a drop from about 25% in Dec 2021. This is a massive drop and students should at least be able to get a question paper analysis or answer key to check their results and also improve on it. @NBEMS_INDIA

#FMGE #FMGEJune2022,” said a tweet by Dr. Subhav Ramnani, who is also an aspirant of USMLE (United States Medical Licensing Examination).

Another tweet by Dr. Deepak Aanjna, a resident medical officer at Suyash Hospital in Indore, asked the system to be made more transparent. “Do Justice With FMGs

Make your system transparent @NBEMS_INDIA @mansukhmandviya #FMGE,” said his tweet.

“Gave the #FMGE Jun 2022, after 319 days of hard work, it is expected that about 180 to 200 marks but i have got just 94 marks, there is something else inside @NBEMS_INDIA,” said tweet by Dr. Vipul Thanthavalanki, who did his Doctor of Medicine from Russia.

Despite yesterday’s announcement of the FMGE 2022 results, candidates who participated in the June 2022 session will be able to access their individual scorecards on or after July 7. The FMGE results of candidates whose face ID is being verified, those involved in legal proceedings, and those whose security clearances are pending have been marked as "Withheld."
