UGC NET 2025 Result: Subject- and category-specific cut-off scores for the UGC NET 2025 results have been made public by the National Testing Agency (NTA). Candidates who appeared in the examination can now view their respective results and cut-off scores on the official website at ugcnet.nta.ac.in.

This year, the exam saw a registration of more than 10 lakh candidates, out of which 7,52,007 appeared for it. In these, there were 4,46,849 females, 3,05,122 males, and 36 candidates who belonged to the third gender. The results were declared on July 21, 2025.

As a whole, 1,88,333 candidates have passed the exam. Of them, 5,269 candidates have passed the Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) and Assistant Professor eligibility, and 54,885 candidates have qualified for admission to Assistant Professor and Ph.D., and 1,28,179 candidates have passed for Ph.D. admission alone.

What Affects UGC NET Cut-Off Marks?

Various factors decide the UGC NET cut-off annually. In the case of the December 2025 cycle, the key factors that decide cut-off trends:

-Number of candidates who appeared

-Overall difficulty level of the exam

-Performance trends in specific subjects

-Category-wise distribution of candidates

Minimum Qualifying Marks

It’s essential to understand that merely securing the minimum qualifying marks doesn’t guarantee selection for JRF or Assistant Professor roles. Candidates must meet or exceed the official cut-off scores in their respective subject and category to be shortlisted.

According to the guidelines of the NTA, candidates belonging to the General category should secure a minimum of 40% marks, i.e., 120 out of 300. OBC (non-creamy layer) candidates will have to score 36% (i.e., 108 marks), whereas SC/ST and PwD candidates will need to score 35% (105 marks) to be eligible.

With the result and cut-off lists being released, candidates should verify their status in time and remain informed of subsequent notifications for eligibility certificates as well as the proceedings ahead in the recruitment or admission process.
