Times Higher Education Subject Wise Ranking 2025: IISc Bengaluru First Indian Institution To Rank In Global Top 100 for Computer Science

Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bengaluru, has made history by securing a spot in the top 100 globally for computer science in the World University Rankings 2025, marking a significant achievement for Indian higher education.

For the first time, an Indian higher education institution has made it to the list of the world's best 100 institutions offering computer science. The first one to achieve this feat is the Indian Institute of Science, Bengaluru. According to the subject ranking of the World University Rankings by THE for the year 2025, the Indian Institute of Science is positioned at 96th.

The institute's achievement is a great milestone for Indian education. IISc tops the Indian universities in the 251-300 band in the overall World University Rankings 2025 that was released last October.

World University Rankings by subject 2025, published by THE, ranked over 11,000 universities across 11 subjects worldwide-including arts and humanities, business and economics, computer science, engineering, physical sciences, life sciences, clinical, preclinical and health, and social sciences.

US dominates the THE with Stanford & Massachusetts Institute of Technology are in top 3.
