BJP leader and former Chief Minister of Maharashtra Devendra Fadnavis had once launched a school named under Atal Bihari Vajpayee, the 10th prime minister of India on the occasion of the 94th birth anniversary of the late BJP President.

The international school, which is affiliated with the Maharashtra International Education Board, was set up to attain higher education standards.

The establishment of the school by Bharatiya Janata Party-led Fadnavis came after the death of Vajpayee due to a prolonged illness on August 16, 2018.

“Atalji worked hard to increase our growth rate in all sectors, especially education. He always insisted on education of international standards in rural India. We, in Maharashtra, by targeted efforts and initiatives have now jumped up to the 3rd rank from 13th,” the CMO had quoted Fadnavis as saying.

Fadnavis had stated how his administration made adjustments in the educational field using the same equipment, teachers, and infrastructure but "with fresh ideas,” and went on to assert that the government was seeing reverse migration, with many pupils returning to government-run ZP schools after attending English-medium schools.

In a twist of events, Eknath Shinde will serve as the new Chief Minister of Maharashtra with support from Devendra Fadnavis though the latter will not be a part of the government.
