College Viral Video: In a recent incident which took place in the Nehru Institute of Technology in Kaliyapuram, near Thirumalayampalayam in Coimbatore, 13 students have been held suspended after they assaulted a senior student, who is studying MA Criminology. They blame him for stealing money from the first-year students’ hostel room.

In the video, the group of students were seen threatening and attacking a senior student. That viciously violent encounter depicts the victim being slapped and kicked, taunted and verbally assaulted. This can be seen where numerous bystanders are watching the situation, some recording what is happening on their mobile devices.

After the video began circulating, college officials ordered an internal investigation. The probe also resulted in the identification and suspension of 13 students found to be directly involved in the attack. The college administration said it was committed to a safe and respectful campus, adding that it was unacceptable behaviour and would not go unpunished.

The suspension order notice reads, “The following students have violated the rules and regulations of the college by engaging in an act of misconduct within the hostel premises. Based on the preliminary inquiry conducted by the hostel committee, the following students are hereby suspended from both the college and hostel with immediate effect. They are required to bring their parents on March 24 at 9:00 AM. The students are strictly prohibited from entering the college and hostel premises until further notice."
