PM Internship Scheme: Govt Launches Mobile App To Connect Young Talent With Internship Opportunities

The government launched a mobile app for the Prime Minister's Internship Scheme (PMIS) to simplify applications and provide real-time updates. The scheme aims to offer one crore internships over five years, starting with 1.25 lakh opportunities in a pilot project. A smartphone app specifically for the Prime Minister's Internship Scheme (PMIS) was introduced by Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman in New Delhi on Monday. The app has been developed to simplify the process of application and provide real-time updates to candidates.

The app offers several features, including:

- An intuitive interface with a clean design and easy navigation.

- Simple registration using Aadhaar facial recognition.

- Eligible candidates can filter opportunities by location and other criteria.

- A personalised dashboard to track applications and updates.

- Notifications to keep candidates informed of new updates and opportunities.

Launched in the Budget 2024–25, the Prime Minister's Internship Scheme (PMIS) aims to give one crore young people internship opportunities in the top 500 companies within five years. To kick-start the scheme, on October 3, 2024, a pilot project was initiated with the goal of providing 1.25 lakh internship opportunities to youth.

PM Internship Scheme: Check Highlights

- The scheme is for the age group of 21 to 24 years and those who are not pursuing any full-time course of study or working full-time.

Financial Support:

- The interns will be given monthly financial assistance of Rs 5,000.

- There will also be a one-time financial help of Rs 6,000.

- Firms are supposed to bear the cost of training and pay 10 per cent of the cost of internships from their CSR budget.

Round I:

- Rolled out in October 2024.

- 280 companies across 25 sectors have advertised 1.27 lakh internships in 745 districts.

- More than 82,000 applicants were placed, according to the media reports.

Round II:

- Started in January 2025.

- More than 1.18 lakh internship positions were advertised by 327 organisations and the application deadline for this round is the end of March.

Step 2: Complete the registration process through Aadhaar face authentication.

Step 3: Search internships that are provided across various industries.

Step 4: Apply for the position within the app.

Step 5: Receive instant notification with real-time updates on your choice.
