Navi Mumbai: Navi Mumbai Police have launched a new awareness initiative targeting the youth. As part of the Campus Connect campaign, conceptualised by Police Commissioner Milind Bharambe, an inter-college reel-making and poster-making competition has been organised to encourage students to spread the message of a drug-free campus through creative artwork.
The initiative, launched in collaboration with the Maharashtra government, aims to create awareness among students about the dangers of drug abuse and inspire them to become ambassadors of a drug-free society through creative expression.
Students participating in the poster-making competition have been asked to create artworks highlighting the harmful effects of narcotics, preventive measures, peer pressure leading to addiction, rehabilitation after de-addiction, positive lifestyles and the importance of maintaining drug-free educational institutions. The contest will be held in Digital Poster and Hand-Drawn Poster categories. The organisers have announced cash prizes of Rs 21,000 for the first prize, Rs 15,000 for the second prize and Rs 11,000 for the third prize, besides trophies and certificates for winners.
The reel-making competition invites students to produce 30-60 second videos focusing on themes such as drug awareness, peer pressure, addiction prevention, recovery and rehabilitation, positive life choices, the consequences of addiction, the impact of substance abuse on families and relationships, and the importance of speaking up and seeking help. Participants are also encouraged to showcase fitness, art, music and education as positive alternatives to drug abuse. Winners will receive cash prizes of Rs 51,000 for the first prize, Rs 31,000 for the second prize and Rs 21,000 for the third prize, along with trophies and certificates.
Digital poster entries must be submitted in portrait format with a 4:5 aspect ratio, while hand-drawn posters should be prepared on A2-size sheets. Reel entries must be submitted in vertical 9:16 format in MP4 with a duration of 30 to 60 seconds. All submissions must be original, and AI-generated artwork, copied content or material promoting drug use will not be accepted.
Each participating college must appoint a College Nodal Officer to conduct an internal screening process. Colleges may submit a maximum of five poster entries and three reel entries through the designated Google Forms. The final date for submission of both competitions is August 8.
"Every voice matters, and every creative idea has the power to inspire change. Through art and digital storytelling, students can play a vital role in building a drug-free society. I urge young people to participate wholeheartedly and become ambassadors of this campaign," Police Commissioner Milind Bharambe said.
