Mumbai: The University of Warwick, one of the UK’s leading higher education institutions, marked its 60th anniversary with a commemorative event in Mumbai, reaffirming its longstanding relationship with India and celebrating alumni who are making their mark in the country’s business and innovation landscape.

Held at the Taj Lands End in Bandra, the event brought together senior university officials, industry partners, and members of the Indian alumni community. On hand from the UK were Ajay Teli, Global Chief Communications, Marketing and Content Officer, and Satnam Rana-Grindley, Director of Communications – Corporate Brand, underscoring Warwick’s emphasis on international engagement and partnerships, particularly in India.

The university used the occasion to highlight its 25-year collaboration with Tata Group – a partnership seen as a model for how academia and industry can work together to drive research and innovation. The alliance has contributed to joint projects, research output, and skills development for students both in the UK and India.

Among the success stories shared was that of Shreya Mittal, a recent graduate of Warwick Business School’s BSc Management with Entrepreneurship programme. Shreya is now the Co-founder and Chief Marketing Officer of Cava Athleisure, a homegrown wellness brand valued at over ₹100 crore.

Shreya credited Warwick’s curriculum and campus community for shaping her entrepreneurial path. “Every class, every experience — I carried it straight into Cava,” she said, recalling how her involvement with student societies and access to flexible coursework helped her develop the brand while still a student. “Warwick wasn’t just a university; it was a helipad.”

Warwick Business School, where Shreya studied, has recently seen a rise in global recognition — moving up to 10th worldwide in the latest QS Executive MBA Rankings, and ranking third in the UK.

With a student body representing over 125 countries, Warwick has steadily grown its global reach. Currently ranked in the UK’s top 10 and within the top 100 universities globally, it continues to emphasise internationalism in its research and student engagement.

“Warwick’s story is about pushing boundaries in research, innovation, and leadership,” said Ajay Teli. “Our Indian alumni are a key part of that story, not just contributing to the university’s reputation, but shaping industries and communities across the world.”
