Mulund, Mumbai: A disturbing incident at Mulund railway station on the Central line saw two school-going boys got into a fierce fight on the platform, and the scuffle later moved to the tracks, causing a lot of panic among the passengers.

The incident, which was recorded and is now circulating on social media. What begin with boys initially arguing on the platform and within a matter of seconds, the argument escalates into a physical fight. The two boys can be seen grabbing each other by the collar and neck, attempting to overpower one another. In the struggle, they lose balance and fall onto the tracks and still struggling to get the better of each other on the gravel on the tracks.

Fight continues despite approaching train

What made the situation more alarming was the approach of a train towards the platform. Passengers can be heard shouting warnings of “train aa rahi hai” as the boys continued fighting, and seem unaware of the danger.

The video shows one of the boys trying to pin the other down by wrapping his arm around his neck, while both continued to strike and wrestle. At one point, another individual steps in and pulls them briefly into the space between two tracks in an attempt to separate them.

Bystanders intervene, no immediate security response

As the train drew closer, a few commuters jumped onto the tracks to intervene. One man, seen wearing a white shirt, manages to scoop and lift one of the boys and takes him towards the platform. Another person pulls the second boy away, helping both reach safety just moments before the train arrives.

However, the fight was far from over. Once on the platform, it seems like the boys have continued fighting again before the video cuts off.

The incident has raised concerns regarding passenger safety and the lack of prompt response from railway security personnel. There are no RPF or police personnel visible in the footage during the entire incident, and leaving bystanders to handle the situation.

Safety concerns resurface

The incident has once again highlighted the risks commuters face on crowded suburban platforms, especially when altercations escalate unchecked. With one of Mumbai’s busiest rail networks handling lakhs of passengers daily, questions are being raised about surveillance and rapid response mechanisms at stations like Mulund.
