Ministry Of Education Announces PM-YUVA 3.0 Scheme For Mentoring Young Authors; Details Here

The Ministry of Education's Department of Higher Education has inaugurated PM-YUVA 3.0, the Prime Minister's Scheme for Mentoring Young Authors. The Author Mentorship program seeks to educate young and aspiring authors under the age of 30 to encourage reading, writing, and book society in the country.

PM-YUVA 3.0 Scheme: The Ministry of Education's Department of Higher Education has inaugurated PM-YUVA 3.0, the Prime Minister's Scheme for Mentoring Young Authors. The Author Mentorship program seeks to educate young and aspiring authors under the age of 30 to encourage reading, writing, and book society in the country.

The PM YUVA 3.0 program is being introduced following the enormous success of the first two rounds of the PM-YUVA program, which saw widespread participation from young and aspiring authors in 22 different Indian languages and English. This program will assist in the development of a pool of authors capable of writing on a wide range of topics to promote Indian heritage, culture, and knowledge systems.

According to the official press release, as the Implementing Agency, the National Book Trust of India, which is part of the Ministry of Education, will ensure that the initiative is carried out in phases under well-defined guidance. The books created under this initiative will be printed by the National Book Trust of India and translated into other Indian languages, encouraging cultural and creative interchange while encouraging 'Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat'. The chosen young authors will interact with renowned writers, attend literary festivals, and make contributions to a broad body of work that captures India's rich history and modern progress.

PM-YUVA 3.0 Scheme: Important dates

As per the official press release, the announcement of the scheme was made on March 11, 2025. This scheme aims to select 50 authors through an 'All India Contest' which is going to be held through- mygov.in from March 11–April 10, 2025. The received proposals would be evaluated in April 2025 whereas the list of selected applicants will be released in May-June 2025.

Between 30 June and 30 December 2025 each young author will take part in mentorship from a renowned literary figure. Under the mentorship, the National Camp for PM-YUVA 3.0 Authors will be hosted during the New Delhi World Book Fair in 2026.

PM-YUVA 3.0 Scheme: Theme and number of authors selected

Here are a number of authors to be qualified as per the themes:

1. Contribution of Indian Diaspora in Nation Building: 10 authors

2. Indian Knowledge System: 20 authors

3. Makers of Modern India (1950–2025): 20 authors

The program aspires to develop a new generation of authors who can describe the Indian diaspora's achievements in nation-building, emphasizing their peaceful integration and impact in political, economic, and socio-cultural realms. It will also stress the importance of the Indian Knowledge System in maintaining historical wisdom, creating new opportunities, and synthesizing traditional wisdom for national growth.
