A viral video from Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, has left people stunned, wherein a teacher of a government school is allegedly seen sleeping during class hours. According to media reports, the incident took place in a Junior High School in Krishnapuri, where the teacher was found sitting on a chair, clearly in deep slumber, while students were inside the class. The 21-second video, reportedly recorded by a student, has led to extensive criticism on social media.
People on social media condemned the teacher's actions as irresponsible and harmful to students' education. Others were concerned about her health or exhaustion. She can be seen in the video sitting with her feet on a table and personal items within reach, unperturbed by her environment.
In response to the controversy, Basic Shiksha Adhikari (BSA) Asha Chaudhary said that an inquiry had been launched. She vowed that suitable action would be taken as per the investigation, according to India Today reports. The event has brought debates in social media regarding accountability in government schools as well as the standard of education being delivered to students.
