Navi Mumbai: In light of the red alert issued by the India Meteorological Department (IMD) for extremely heavy rainfall in parts of Raigad district, District Collector Kishan N. Jawale has declared a holiday for all educational institutions in six talukas on Monday, July 15.

About The Talukas Affected By The Order

The talukas affected by the order include Mangaon, Tala, Roha, Pali, Mahad, and Poladpur, where continuous overnight rainfall and strong winds have caused rivers, especially the Kundalika River, to cross warning levels. These areas have also been experiencing high tides and stormy weather conditions.

Based on reports from the Sub-Divisional Officers of Mangaon, Roha, and Mahad, and after reviewing the local situation, the district administration took the decision as a precautionary measure to ensure the safety of students.

The holiday applies to all government and private primary and secondary schools, Zilla Parishad and municipal schools, aided and unaided schools, all ashram schools, Anganwadis, colleges, and institutions under the Commissioner of Vocational Education and Training in the affected talukas, confirmed and order issued by Raigad collector Kishan Jawale.

However, the order mandates that all headmasters, teachers, and non-teaching staff report to their institutions during regular hours and remain available to assist the local administration with disaster management duties, if required.

The directive was issued under the powers vested in the District Collector as the Chairperson of the District Disaster Management Authority, in accordance with the Disaster Management Act, 2005, and relevant government guidelines.

The Raigad administration has urged residents in affected areas to remain alert and follow official advisories.
