Mumbai: The Maharashtra School Education Department has initiated the next phase of teacher recruitment through the Pavitra Portal, opening the preference-filling process for candidates who qualified the Teacher Aptitude and Intelligence Test (TAIT) 2025. A total of 30,209 teaching vacancies across government, local body and private aided schools have been notified under the recruitment drive.
According to a press note issued on Thursday, the online TAIT 2025 examination was conducted between May 27 and June 5, 2025. Out of 2,28,808 registered candidates, 2,11,308 appeared for the examination, while 1,70,108 candidates completed the self-certification process required for participation in recruitment.
The recruitment will be carried out on the basis of candidates' TAIT scores for filling Shikshan Sevak and teacher posts from Classes 1 to 12 in schools managed by local self-government bodies and private managements. The recruitment is being undertaken in accordance with government policy to fill 80 per cent of sanctioned vacant posts after considering reservations and institutional requirements.
The notified vacancies include 13,351 posts in Zilla Parishad schools, 1,954 in Municipal Corporation schools, 280 in Municipal Council schools, 2,421 in Tribal Development Department schools, 56 in government Vidyaniketan schools, and 12,148 posts in private educational institutions, taking the total to 30,209 vacancies. Of these, 19,881 posts will be filled without interviews, while 10,328 posts in private institutions will involve interviews.
Class-wise, the vacancies comprise 14,320 posts for Classes 1 to 5, 10,012 for Classes 6 to 8, 5,513 for Classes 9 and 10, and 364 for Classes 11 and 12.
Candidates have been asked to log in to the Pavitra Portal to generate their priority list and submit their post-wise preferences. The facility for entering preferences has been made available from August 6, and candidates must lock their preferences by August 11. The department has also begun sending SMS alerts to eligible candidates regarding the process.
Once the preference-filling process is completed, the merit list for posts not requiring interviews will be published. The School Education Department has also invited candidates to submit any queries or grievances related to the recruitment process via the designated email address mentioned in the official notification.
