Mumbai: The Common Entrance Test (CET) Cell has rescheduled the 3-year Bachelor of Laws (LLB) CET to May 3 and 4 following numerous requests from candidates. The examination, initially set for March 20 and 21, would have clashed with some Mumbai University exams, several candidates pointed out once the schedule was announced.
The 3-year LLB remains one of the most sought-after professional courses in Maharashtra, with over 80,500 candidates registering for the entrance test in the 2024-25 admission cycle, out of which almost 70,000 appeared. Given the significant participation in the exam, officials from the CET Cell stated that accommodating students' needs was a priority.
As soon as the timetable was released, the CET Cell received multiple appeals from students highlighting the conflict with university examinations. Considering their concerns, the cell decided to reschedule the 3-year LLB CET to avoid disruptions and ensure a fair opportunity for all candidates, said the officials.
Several candidates welcomed the decision, stating that the earlier dates would have posed difficulties for those appearing for multiple examinations in a short span.
“It would have been incredibly stressful to prepare for both exams simultaneously. The new dates give us much-needed time to focus on each properly,” said an aspirant. Another candidate remarked, “We were worried about missing either the CET or our university exams. This change has eased a lot of anxiety.”
“If we appeared for the CET and for some reason wouldn’t get selected, then it would have affected our degree course as well,” said another Mumbai University student who is preparing for the entrance test.
For the forthcoming academic session, the CET Cell has already released schedules for all the professional course entrance tests. Most exams have been planned earlier this year to ensure a streamlined admission process, allowing institutions to commence the new academic year without delays, according to the officials.
