Lucknow Schools Closed: As torrential rains continue to batter several parts of Uttar Pradesh, including the state capital, Lucknow, authorities have ordered the closure of all schools today, August 14. The order applies to government as well as private schools from Classes 1 to 12.

District Magistrate Visakh G Iyer confirmed the decision, citing safety factors due to widespread waterlogging and traffic disruptions. "All schools will be closed today in the wake of the heavy rain and worsening weather conditions," he stated.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted increased monsoon activity over the next few days with a low-pressure system developing over the Bay of Bengal. Consequently, moderate to heavy showers are likely to persist over northern and central India.

Weather Warnings Across Regions

The IMD has put out various alerts in the country. Uttar Pradesh, as well as Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, and regions of Maharashtra and Andhra Pradesh, are under an orange alert, meaning chances of very heavy to heavy rain. A red alert, however, has been issued for the Telangana regions of Vikarabad and Sangareddy, issuing a warning for extremely heavy rainfall.

Neighbouring states like Haryana, Punjab, and Delhi are also bracing for moderate to heavy showers on Thursday.

Authorities continue to monitor the situation and urge citizens to keep themselves updated through official weather warnings and district announcements.
