Putting an end to the confusion related to the reservation for disabled candidates applying for NEET 2019, NTA has released an updated eligibility guideline for the aspirants with disabilities. As per the newly drafted guidelines, candidates with disabilities can make changes in their application form in the month of January. NTA had extended the last date of submission of NEET 2019 online application form from November 30 to December 07, 2018. All the updated guidelines are posted on the official website of Medical Council of India (MCI) as per the directions of the Ministry of Health.
As officially declared, NEET will be held on May 05, 2019.
Lately, MCI has issued new guidelines for the Person with Disabilities to check their eligibility to appear in NEET 2019.
The pan-India body of Doctors with Disabilities had asked MCI to extend the last date to fill the NEET-UG 2019 application form and allow the candidates with the disability to make changes in their application if they have already registered.
MCI took quite long to consider the matter, according to the Doctors with Disabilities. The body also stated the revised MCI guidelines are discriminatory and it directly violates the rules of the Supreme Court, high courts, and the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act 2016.
Adding to this concern, a member of Doctors with Disabilities mentioned that NTA and MCI hold no social accountability that subjected candidates with disabilities to harassment. It is very sad that the health ministry had to intervene in this matter when the deadline for filling the application form was just a day away.
However, putting end to all the confusion MCI has explained the eligibility for the Persons with Disabilities in its updated guideline. Visit the official website of MCI to check the newly drafted guideline. Candidates must download the information bulletin or MCI guidelines for PwD and Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act 2016 to get updated and complete information.
