Una (HP): A memorandum of understanding (MoU) to promote research, innovation and academic excellence was signed between the Indian Institute of Information Technology (IIIT), Una and the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur, officials said on Friday.

This MoU reflects the shared thinking of both institutions, in which they will work together in various ways for mutual benefit.

Under this agreement, teachers and students of both institutions will do research together in the field of emerging technologies in joint research projects, an IIIT Una spokesperson said.

The objective of this agreement is to promote incubation activities, mentorship to startups, innovation and entrepreneurship to develop the startup ecosystem.

Additionally, joint training sessions, competitions, faculty development programs and workshops will be organised for students to enhance their technical skills and knowledge.

The academic cooperation will include guest lectures, joint seminars, curriculum development and exchange of academic resources, a statement said.

As part of infrastructure development, both institutions will establish and share advanced research laboratories and innovation centres, promoting the use of each other's research facilities, technical equipment, and academic resources.

Professor Manish Gaur, Director of IIIT Una, stated that this agreement represents a significant step toward their academic and research goals. Collaborating with IIT Kanpur is expected to enhance their research capabilities and create new opportunities for innovation, startup development, and academic progress.

This collaboration will provide students, teachers and researchers better opportunities for multidisciplinary learning, innovation and entrepreneurship.

Both institutions aim to make significant contributions to India's growing technology and innovation sector by leveraging each other's capabilities and resources, the statement said.
