How to calculate marks:
The AFCAT exam consists of 100 questions.
The total score for the exam is 300 marks.
The numerical ability section is based on the Class 10 level, while other subjects are at the graduation level.
+3 marks for each correct answer.
-1 mark for each wrong answer (negative marking).
0 marks for unattempted questions.
The final AFCAT score is calculated by adding marks for correct answers and subtracting marks for incorrect responses.
Cut-off:
Every year, the cut-off scores vary based on a number of variables, including the quantity of applicants, the difficulty of the test, and the number of open positions. The difficulty of this year's exam and historical trends are used to determine these scores. Depending on how competitive the test is, the AFCAT cut-off has largely remained constant over the years. The cut-off is anticipated to fall within the typical range this year due to the moderately difficult exam and the large number of applicants.
145–155 is the anticipated cut-off in 2025.
In order to find applicants for commissioned Class 1 gazetted officer positions in flying, ground duty (both technical and non-technical), and meteorology for both permanent and short-service commissions, the IAF holds AFCAT twice a year, in February and September.
