Palghar, Maharashtra: A schoolboy from Palghar has made an emotional appeal to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, demanding a bridge over the Vaitarna Creek after students and local residents were reportedly forced to use a dangerous route to reach school.

In a video shared by Lokshahi Marathi, titled “When will a bridge be built over Vaitarna Creek? Students and residents demand action from the administration,” student Sohil Sunil Chaudhari highlights the difficulties faced by schoolchildren due to the lack of a proper road and bridge in the area.

“Honourable Prime Minister of India, Modi Saheb, you say all over the TV that children are the future of India. Then why isn't there a simple road for children of our age to get an education?” Sohil asks in the video.

He says that while he carries his school bag every day, he also carries the constant fear of death because there is no safe route for students to reach their school.

“We have to walk along that life-threatening railway track and bridge every day. If an express train comes from behind, we tremble with fear,” he says.

The schoolboy then directly appeals to Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis, referring to the development of major roads and the bullet train project while questioning why children in his area still do not have a safe route to school.

“Fadnavis Saheb, you have brought big roads and bullet trains to the entire country, haven’t you? Then why is there only a track of death in our destiny? Give us the road that is our right,” he says.

The video has also brought renewed attention to the long-standing demand of students and residents for a bridge over the Vaitarna Creek. The lack of proper connectivity has reportedly made the daily journey difficult and potentially dangerous for people in the area.

The issue is not limited to schoolchildren, with local residents also demanding that the administration take steps to provide a safe and accessible route across the creek.

The schoolboy’s appeal has now drawn attention to the need for safer connectivity in the area, particularly for students who have to travel to school every day.
