Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) is a national level entrance exam for law aspirants. It is a common entrance exam for admissions to undergraduate (UG) and postgraduate (PG) law programmes which is offered by 22 National Law Universities in India.

The Consortium of National Law Universities (NLUs) is presently accepting applications for the CLAT exam 2024. The online application forms for the CLAT exam 2024 have been open since July 1, 2023. The application forms are available on their official website - consortiumofnlus.ac.in. The deadline to submit these applications is November 3, 2023.

Here is a step-by-step guide on how to apply for the CLAT exam correctly:

Step 1 - Open the official website - consortiumofnlus.ac.in

Step 2 - Generate your Log in details and sign in to the website

Step 3 - Fill in the correct details in the form

Step 4 - Upload the required documents and proceed to pay the application fee

Step 5 - Click 'Submit' and wait for the confirmation

Step 6 - Download and sav the confirmation page

The Consortium of National Law Universities will conduct the CLAT exam on December 3, 2023. The exam is expected to be held for a duration of two hours from 2 PM to 4 PM.

NLUs has also revised the CLAT 2024 syllabus for this year.

This year, the number of questions for the candidates to attempt in a span of two hours have been changed from 150 to 120. The UG CLAT 2024 will now be divided into five sections namely English language, legal reasoning, current affairs and general knowledge, logical reasoning, quantitative techniques and legal reasoning. There will be MCQ questions that the candidates need to attempt after reading a passage of approximately 450 words. For every correct answer candidates will get one mark whereas for every wrong answer, 0.25 marks will be deducted from their score. The candidates can expect questions to be based on company law, public international law, constitutional law, law of contract, administrative law, jurisprudence, torts, family law, criminal law, property law, tax law, environmental law and labour and industrial law.
