The Central Board of Secondary Education, or CBSE, is all set to launch the curriculum for the new academic session 2026-27, which will be applicable to classes 9, 10, 11, and 12. This is a big announcement, which comes just before the beginning of the new academic session.

According to the official announcement made to affiliated schools, the curriculum will be released for senior secondary classes i.e., Class 11 and 12, on April 1, 2026. The curriculum for secondary classes (Class 9 and 10) will follow a day later, on April 2.
The changes in the current year assume special significance as the CBSE has been implementing the Scheme of Studies suggested in the National Curriculum Framework for School Education (NCF-2023) in the case of students studying in Class 9. The changes are likely to reflect the focus on the concept of competency, flexibility, and holism in education.
To assist schools in this process of understanding, CBSE is also planning to conduct a webinar on April 2, where all aspects of the revised curriculum and scheme of study will be explained in detail.

Schools have been asked to download the entire curriculum documents, including introductory guidelines, and share them with teachers and students immediately. The board has also emphasised the need for institutions to align their teaching practices with the updated framework.
In addition, school heads have been advised to organise orientation sessions and parent-teacher meetings to familiarise stakeholders with the changes. The idea is to ensure that the transition to the new curriculum is smooth and well understood from the start of the academic session.
