New Delhi: Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta has taken a decisive stance on the issue of stray animals in the city. During a recent convoy, she witnessed a car driver feeding cows in the street, prompting her to halt her vehicle and address the driver directly.

Delhi CM Gupta urged him to feed the cows at the nearest cowshed instead, emphasizing the importance of preventing an increase in the stray animal population on roads and minimizing the risk of accidents.

Acknowledging that stray animals pose a significant challenge to traffic and public safety, Gupta instructed administrative officials to treat the resulting traffic jams and accidents as serious issues. She highlighted that in a densely populated metropolis like Delhi, every citizen has a responsibility to ensure public safety while caring for animals. Gupta pointed out that cows are better served in shelters, where they can receive proper care and nourishment.

Expressing concern over the dangers of people leaving food on streets, which attracts multiple animals and disrupts traffic, she appealed to the public to prioritize safety. She urged citizens interested in helping cows to visit shelters, where both animal welfare and road safety could be upheld. Gupta noted the importance of collective action, stating that while the Municipal Corporation conducts campaigns, lasting solutions require citizen engagement.

To support her initiative, she directed officials to expand cow shelters and enhance their facilities, encouraging more people to participate in animal care. This approach reflects Gupta's commitment to balancing animal welfare with civil responsibility, promoting a safer environment for all in Delhi.
