NASHIK : The prestigious state level Vishaka Puraskar given by Yeshwantrao Chavan Maharashtra Open University (YCMOU) will be given to poets Dr Yogini Satarkar-Pande, Mohan Kumbhar and Vishnu Thore, the Registrar Dr Dinesh Bhonde announced on Saturday.
The award given in memory of Nashik’s leading poet V V Shirwadkar is given to poets who have published anthologies. The 2015 awards are given for first, second and third prizes and include cash, citation, and a memento.
The first prize of Rs 21,000 will be given to Dr Yogini from Nanded for her anthology ‘Janivanche Hirve Komb’. She is a professor of English at Swami Ramanand Teerth Marathwada University. The second prize of Rs 15,000 will be given to Mohan Kumbhar from Sindhudurg for his anthology ‘Jagnyache Gatha’. He is a professor at B V Desai
College, Kankavli. The third prize of Rs 10,000 will be given to Vishnu Thore of Nashik for his anthology ‘Dhulpera Usvata’. He is a farmer and an artist from Chandwad tehsil town and has designed over 450 book covers.
The awards will be given on Sunday at the hands of writer Uttam Kamble in Kalidas Kalamandir hall of Nashik at 6 pm, Dr Bhonde said.
