Ujjain: Ujjain city will host ‘Vikramotsava’ from March 21 to 29, 2017. A meeting of the Vikramotsava Local Committee was held on Thursday to discuss the planning and hosting of the event held every year. The committee released a folder on the event during the meeting with a view to giving it maximum publicity.
The committee arrived at the decision that an exhibition of archeological assets would be conducted at the Triveni Museum during the festival. King Vikramaditya’s literature will be publicised among the masses and circulated by stalls organised at Vikram Tila, in coordination with the Ujjain Municipal Corporation. An international conference will also be organised during the event. The committee also mulled over releasing a postal stamp on Vikramaditya and designing a government calendar on themes related to the king.
During the meet, the committee pledged to convey its proposal of ‘Vikram Samvat 2074-75’ to the Union government for recognition at the state and national level. It stated that the inauguration will be followed by a symposium and an exhibition by the Ashwini Research Centre on March 22. Stage shows will be organised from March 23 to 25. The Anushthan Mandap astrological academy and Kaveri Research Institute will hold programmes on March 26 and 27 respectively.
The main event will be held on March 28 followed by an All India Poets’ Conference at the Tower on March 29. MLA Mohan Yadav and divisional commissioner Ravindra Pastor graced the meeting.They released Hindi & English folder based on the archeological evidences of King Vikramaditya.
