World Diabetes Day will be observed globally on Wednesday and several awareness programmes will be held to inform the citizens about this widely spreading disease in India. On this occasion Dr Vijay Garg shared some dos and don’ts about the disease. Dr Garg shared that 4 to 5 crore population of country is trapped in the clutches of diabetes and around 2 to 3 crore will soon join this club due to their lifestyle and dietary habits.

Dr Vijay Garg on taking about its cure said that little change in daily lifestyle will prevent one from getting diabetes and cardiovascular diseases. Precautions like blood pressure should not go beyond 130/80 and prevent use of tobacco, cigarettes and oily food.
Activities like yoga, meditation, exercise, cycling, dancing should be inculcated and one should try to control waist size within 36 inches. Medical check up and expert consultation should be taken once a year to stay fit and healthy. He further held that diabetic patients are usually prone to cardiac arrest so should take extra care of their heart. Little bit precaution, exercise and avoidance of intake of some items is the key of a healthy and safe life, Dr Garg said.

Chief Medical and Health Officer (CMHO) Dr ML Malviya informed that November 14 will be celebrated every year as World Diabetes Day. He said about the disease that it can be described as a medical condition that results in an increase in glucose levels in the blood. It happens when a person’s pancreas is either unable to produce sufficient amounts of insulin or the insulin produced does not functioning properly.
But, with better lifestyle and diet, you can control the disease. Diabetes is heredity disease, if mother suffers diabetes during pregnancy than child born will have probability of having diabetes and if child born with weight more than 3.5 kilogram will have chances of diabetes.
