Mumbai: Maratha Seva Sangh (MSS), an aggressive Maratha outfit opposed to build memorial of Chhatrapati Shivaji in the Arabian Sea and suggested to build it on the surface. Purushottam Khedekar national president of the MSS said that they have been demanding since 1995 to build Shiv Smarak on the surface. “We had also selected a 300 hectare plot at Gorai during Shiv Sena-Bharatiya Janata Party yuti government in 1995.
However later Congress- Nationalist Congress Party government was not shown interest in the construction of memorial of Shivaji, Smarak,” Khedekar claimed. He further said, “If the memorial will be in Sea, there would be restrictions on visiting certain numbers of visitors everyday. On the contrary, hundreds and thousands of people can visit the memorial if it will be on surface ground.”
