Indore: The molestation of a Noida-based married woman in a moving bus between Bhopal and Indore caused panic among police officials on Sunday night. Local police officials swung into action after learning about the incident from their Bhopal counterparts. They stopped a bus of Bhopal Travels and detained the conductor for interrogation.

However, the victim refused to lodge a formal complaint in the case and thanked the police for quick action before leaving. A 32-year-old woman had boarded the semi-sleeper bus of Bhopal Travels from Bhopal to Indore. She had reached Bhopal through train and took the bus for Indore on Sunday night with her husband.

“At about 1 am, four youths boarded the bus from Ashta and one of them held my leg and made physical advances after moving the curtain of my seat,” the complainant told police. She said her husband informed the conductor about the incident who didn’t respond but helped the accused to escape safely. They got down from the bus in Dewas. The complainant lodged a complaint with Dial 100 services and the information was passed from Bhopal call centre to Indore police.

The bus was stopped by police at Vijay Nagar square and the conductor was detained. “We had started investigating the case and were trying to get details of youths who alighted from the bus in Dewas,” CSP Vijay Nagar Jayant Rathore said. Police sent the woman home after seizing the bus and asked her to lodge an official complaint on Monday morning.

“Surprisingly, the complainant reached the police station on Monday morning but gave a letter in which she stated that she doesn’t want to file a complaint. She thanked the police for taking quick action and left,” Rathore said.
