Western Railway Women’s Welfare Organisation continues to serve zealously

Western Railway Women's Welfare Organization (WRWWO) has been formed to cater to the welfare of railway employees and their families. It plays an important role in the field of employee welfare and social service through its multifarious activities. The Organisation headed by Smt Tanuja Kansal - President of WRWWO, functions at all the divisions of Western Railway viz, Mumbai Central, Vadodara, Ahmedabad, Rajkot, Bhavnagar and Ratlam, including Headquarters. The organization assists the employees and their families in difficult times, especially in areas where administration has its own limitations. It has also been generous in times of natural calamities with its financial contributions & coordination in providing relief materials.

According to Sumit Thakur-WR’S Chief Public Relations Officer, Western Railway is leaving no stone unturned in fighting the pandemic. It is running Oxygen Express to carry oxygen to different parts of the country, providing isolation coaches, medical facilities, carrying essential commodities, in house production of sanitizers and PPE kits, etc. The railway employees as front line warriors are extending their services in helping the nation fight the pandemic. WRWWO on their part reaches out to the needy and salutes the spirit of railway employees who provide selfless service to the organisation and the nation. In these trying times, WRWWO is always on the forefront standing with the families of the railway employees and extending support and motivation to the employees. Railway employees were felicitated by WRWWO with cash awards for their commendable work during the Covid pandemic. Financial assistance was given to the staff i.e. Trackmen, RPF, Paramedics etc who have been working as frontline workers. Two washing machines and three hotplates were donated to RPF women staff of Rajkot, Ahmedabad & Bhavnagar divisions. To mitigate the hardships faced in performing dual responsibility of home and work and to facilitate comfort in their working, an automatic washing machine was donated by WRWWO to the ladies running room at Okha station. As a gesture of kindness, WRWWO distributed cash to 15 widows of railway employees who had succumbed to Covid-19 in their line of duty. Recently, during International Nurse’s Day, WRWWO donated Rs 50,000/- to WR’s Jagjivan Ram Hospital in appreciation to the selfless service provided by the nurses. A television set was donated to the physiotherapy room at Ratlam Divisional Hospital. Kansal also believes in Fit Body, Fit Mind, Fit Environment and appreciated the commendable contributions made by WR’s sports persons. WRWWO donated cash for purchase of new lockers for women sports persons at Mahalaxmi ground.
