New Delhi :  In a fresh blow to British telecom major Vodafone, which is negotiating with the government to settle a Rs 20,000 cr tax row over the 2007 Vodafone-Hutchison deal, the income-tax department on Wednesday slapped a Rs 3,700 crore notice on Vodafone in connection with the transfer pricing case, related to unpaid dues and interest for assessment year 2008-2009, excluding penalty.

However, a Vodafone spokesperson said it would file an appeal before a higher tax authority. The high court had dismissed a case filed by Vodafone on the matter in September.
