Train Delayed Or AC Not Working? Don’t Worry, Get Full Refund Easily. |

New Delhi: If your train journey is disrupted—like a major delay, non-functional AC, or a route change—you don’t have to bear the loss. IRCTC allows passengers to file a TDR (Ticket Deposit Receipt) and claim a full refund. The process is simple and especially convenient for online ticket bookings.

What is TDR?

TDR stands for Ticket Deposit Receipt. If your train journey is disturbed due to issues like a non-working AC, route change, or coach not attached, you can file a TDR on the IRCTC website. This helps you claim a refund for your ticket.

When Can You Get a Full Refund?

You are eligible for a full refund in these situations:

Your train is delayed by three hours or more, and you decide not to travel.

In such a case, cancel the ticket before the train’s departure. No money will be deducted.

If AC is not working in your coach, you can still get a refund.

Just file a TDR within 20 hours after reaching your destination.

How to File a TDR Online?

Follow these simple steps to file a TDR:

Visit: www.irctc.co.in and log in to your account.

Go to ‘My Account’ → Click on ‘My Transactions’ → Then select ‘File TDR’.

Choose the PNR number for which you want to file the TDR.

Select the correct reason from the dropdown menu (like AC not working or route diverted).

Choose the names of passengers who did not travel.

Click on ‘File TDR’.

Read the instructions on the screen and click ‘Yes’ to confirm.

Once done, you will see a message: ‘TDR Successfully Filed’.

Important Notes

This service is mostly for tickets booked online via IRCTC.

Refunds are only issued if IRCTC verifies the issue.

Filing the TDR within the time limit is very important.

Always keep your PNR and journey details handy.
