Swiggy COO Vivek Sunder will be stepping down from his post by October citing to pursue personal and professional interests, reported Moneycontrol on Wednesday. Co-Founder and CEO Sriharsha Majety is likely to fill in for Sunder.
In an email sent internally, Majety said that he will directly be overseeing the marketplace business with immediate effect. "We have been discussing this for a while now and over the course of the past few weeks I have been planning the way forward as well," said Majety in an email that was accessed by Moneycontrol.
Swiggy had appointed Vivek Sunder as its first Chief Operating Officer in 2018. During his 3-year stint at Swiggy, Sunder was incharge of developing and executing Swiggy's strategic direction and priorities to drive organizational growth and operational excellence.
With over 20 years of experience in the FMCG industry, Vivek has been working at the intersection of business and technology across several leadership roles and geographies at Procter & Gamble (P&G). In his most recent role as the Managing Director, P&G, East Africa, Vivek was instrumental in driving both top and bottom-line growth while expanding its market share and margins in a difficult macroeconomic climate.
