Mumbai: Special flights to Goa from key cities will be operated by Wadia Group-promoted budget carrier GoAir to cater to holiday rush during Christmas and New Year, the airline has said. The additional flights to Goa will be operated from Mumbai, Kolkata, Bengaluru and Ahmedabad between December 18 and January 5 next year, GoAir said.

The airline plans to fly a total of 23 services during this period. Bookings for these special flights have already commenced from today, GoAir said. At present, GoAir operates seven flights per day to Goa from three airports–Mumbai, Delhi and Bengaluru. Of these, five flights are from Mumbai and one each from Delhi and Bengaluru.

The new flights and connections are between cities that are currently already being served by the airline on its network, it said, adding the special flights will be operated using state-of-the-art Airbus A320 aircraft fleet. The first special flight, G81375, for Goa will depart at 2300 hours from Mumbai on December 18, it said. The budget carrier currently operates 140 flights per day from 22 cities pan-India with a fleet of 19 Airbus A320s. With a market share of 8.4 per cent, country’s third largest budget carrier GoAir had carried a total of 5.94 lakh passengers in October.
