Satyam founder Raju, wife, convicted in tax evasion case

MUMBAI : A Hyderabad court has convicted directors of 19 companies, promoters of which include erstwhile Satyam Computer Services promoter B Ramalinga Raju and his family members for alleged income tax evasion, media reports said.

The special judge for economic offences court, M Laxman, sentenced the accused, including Raju’s wife Nandini Raju and sons Teja Raju and Rama Raju to 18 months of simple imprisonment, and imposed a fine of 10,000 rupees each. Each company has 4-5 directors comprising mostly Raju’s family members and same persons were also directors in all companies, Public prosecutor of the Income Tax Department, Ramakrishna Reddy said.
