Mumbai: Mukesh Ambani-led Reliance Industries Ltd (RIL) has closed one of the  three paraxylene producing units at its Jamnagar refinery complex in Gujarat for maintenance, the company said Thursday.

“The scheduled shutdown period is approximately for a period of six weeks,” RIL said in a filing with the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE).

The shutdown will also be utilised to improve the reliability and performance of the unit.

The other two units will continue to operate normally, the statement added.

The Jamnagar refinery has a total capacity of 1.8 million tons of paraxylene per annum.

RIL stock closed Thursday at Rs.902.15 a share, up 11.95 points, or 1.34 percent, over its  previous close on the BSE.
