New Delhi: The 20th installment of the PM-KISAN scheme was released by the central government just a few days ago. Now, farmers across the country are waiting for the 21st installment. Meanwhile, a rumour has been spreading among farmers that the government might double the amount given under this scheme—just like it is planning the 8th Pay Commission, which could increase salaries and pensions.

Government says, no plan to double the amount

Amid these talks, the government has made its stand clear. In a written reply in Parliament, the central government said that there is no proposal to double the amount given under the PM-KISAN scheme. This means farmers will continue to get Rs 6,000 every year, which is paid in three equal installments of Rs 2,000 directly into their bank accounts.

What is the PM-KISAN scheme?

The Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) is a central government scheme aimed at helping small and marginal farmers. Under this scheme, the government provides Rs 6,000 annually to eligible farmers. The amount is transferred in three installments—Rs 2,000 each—into the farmers' bank accounts. The scheme was launched in December 2018 and implemented nationwide in February 2019. The goal is to support farmers’ livelihoods, help with their farming expenses, and reduce their dependence on moneylenders.

When will the 21st installment come?

The 20th installment of PM-KISAN was released on August 2, 2025. Now, farmers are curious about when they will receive the 21st installment. While the government hasn’t officially announced a date yet, based on the schedule of past payments, it is expected to be released in November 2025.
