Petrol price cut by 13 paise, diesel by 9 paise

New Delhi : Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) cut prices of petrol and diesel for the seventh day straight on Tuesday. The price of petrol was cut by 13 paise per litre and that of diesel by 9 paise per litre in Delhi, with corresponding changes in other states.

Retail selling prices of the two fuels are revised daily, but the company had kept price revisions on hold between April 25 and May 13.

A litre of petrol now costs Rs 77.83 in Delhi, Rs 80.47 in Kolkata, Rs 85.65 in Mumbai, and Rs 80.80 in Chennai. A litre of diesel now costs Rs 68.88 in Delhi, Rs 71.43 in Kolkata, Rs 73.33 in Mumbai, and Rs 72.72 in Chennai.

Fuel prices vary across the country due to different levies imposed by states. The other two state-owned fuel retailers–Bharat Petroleum Corp and Hindustan Petroleum Corp –follow Indian Oil in fuel price revisions.
