Diamantaire Mehul Choksi’s lawyer has countered the claim of Antigua and Barbuda’s Prime Minister Gaston Browne. According to a HT report, Choksi's lawyer Vijay Aggarwal alleged that the woman in question was part of the team deployed to abduct him.
In an interview, Browne said that the diamantaire may have taken his girlfriend to Dominica on a romantic trip and got caught. Aggarwal said that the woman "got friendly with the whole family" and later shifted to a house near Choksi's residence in Antigua. He further alleged that the woman invited Choksi to her house for a short while and there other members of the team deployed to pick the businessman. "They grabbed him and threw him in a yacht and took him to Dominica."
The woman in question has vanished, the lawyer added. He maintained that Choksi was kidnapped.

This statement is following a statement Browne gave in a radio show in his country where he claimed that India sent a private jet to Dominica carrying documents related to the deportation of fugitive businessman Mehul Choksi, wanted in a Rs 13,500 crore bank loan fraud case. There was, however, no immediate official confirmation from Indian authorities about it.
Recently, there have been pictures that surfaced with swollen eyes and bruises on 62-year-old Choksi's hands.
It is reported that Qatar Airways private jet landed at the Douglas-Charles airport in Dominica leading to speculations about deportation of Choksi who was detained in the Caribbean island nation after his mysterious disappearance from neighbouring Antigua and Barbuda.
Browne told the radio show that the jet came from India carrying necessary documentation needed for deportation of the businessman, the media outlet reported.
Publicly available data of Qatar Executive flight A7CEE shows that it left the Delhi airport at 3.44 pm on May 28 and reached Dominica at 13.16 local time on the same day, via Madrid.
The Dominica High Court stayed the removal of Choksi from its soil and put a gag order on the developments till the matter is heard in an open court on June 2.
Choksi has alleged that he was abducted from Jolly Harbour in Antigua and Barbuda by policemen looking like Antiguan and Indian and taken to Dominica.
