Key Highlights:

- Fuel and LPG prices may change, affecting household and travel costs.

New Delhi: As with every month, August 2025 is bringing several rule changes that could directly affect your finances. From new UPI regulations to fuel price updates, it’s important to stay informed.

UPI Rule Changes from August 1

The National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) is introducing new UPI rules to make payments more secure, fast, and stable.

Key changes include:

- Users of third-party apps like PhonePe, Google Pay, and Paytm can now check their account balance only 50 times a day.

- Bank account details linked to the same mobile number can be viewed only 25 times per day per app.

- These limits are designed to reduce unnecessary load on the UPI system and prevent failed transactions.

- AutoPay transactions like Netflix subscriptions or mutual fund SIPs will be processed only during three time slots: before 10 AM, from 1 PM to 5 PM, and after 9:30 PM.

SBI Credit Card Rule Update

If you have an SBI co-branded credit card, you may lose out on a key benefit.

- Starting August 11, SBI will remove the free air accident insurance cover from several cards.

- This change affects ELITE and PRIME cards issued in partnership with UCO Bank, Central Bank, PSB, Karur Vysya Bank, and Allahabad Bank.

- Earlier, these cards offered coverage of Rs 50 lakh to Rs 1 crore.

LPG Price Revision on August 1

As always, LPG prices are expected to change on the first day of the month.

- On July 1, the commercial LPG cylinder (19 kg) saw a price cut of ₹60.

- No change was made in domestic LPG prices last month.

- However, there is hope for some price relief in domestic LPG this time, which can ease inflation for households.

CNG and PNG Rates May Change

Fuel companies often revise prices on the 1st of every month.

- No change has been made since April 9, when prices were last hiked.

- In Mumbai, CNG was priced at ₹79.50/kg, and PNG at ₹49/unit.

- August might bring a new price revision, depending on global fuel trends.

ATF (Air Turbine Fuel) Price Update Expected

Aviation fuel prices are also likely to change on August 1.

- Higher ATF prices can lead to more expensive flight tickets.

- A drop in prices could bring some relief to air travelers.

- Oil companies usually adjust LPG and ATF prices together at the start of the month.
