With a flurry of sixes and strategic time-outs and a dash of impact players, the IPL 2025 is in full swing. The annual tournament, one of the biggest franchise competitions in the world, is already setting off fireworks, showering the sky with sixes, and leaving the crowd in awe.

In match 5 of the competition, the Punjab Kings (PBKS) took on the Gujarat Titans (GT). While the match ended with a victory for Punjab Kings, it is the remarkable innings from Kings' new skipper Shreyas Iyer's innings of 97 not out that garnered all the laurels.

Comeback King

Here, Goenka was referring to the previous instance of aspersions that were cast on him and his capabilities, as his form on the 22 yards took a lean shape.

Goenka further added, "He has let his bat do all the talking. Technique sharpened, temperament intact. A comeback for the ages. This is the Iyer we were waiting! #PBKSvGT".

Iyer was previously the captain of the Kolkata-based franchise, Kolkata Knight Riders or KKR, who let him go this season.

Match Summary

This match was another high-scoring affair in the newest edition of the million-dollar league. In the match, which saw Iyer unleash his near-century-knock, the Punjab Kings, after being put into bat by the host Gujarat Titans, went on a rampage against the Titans and their bowlers.

The Kings ruled the night and put up a grand show for the spectators at the Narendra Modi Stadium.

The team ended the first innings with a grand total of 243 at the loss of 5 wickets. In return, Gujarat Titan continued the blitzkrieg, coming close to the score, however falling short of the target. GT ended the day with 232 for 5, losing by just 11 runs.
