The Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation or IRCTC website is down. Users could not book their tickets or check the status of already booked tickets, as the website has not been active or operational.
As of now, the IRCTC website remains non-functional. The site carries a message, that read DUE TO MAINTENANCE ACTIVITY, E-TICKETING SERVICE WILL NOT BE AVAILABLE. PLEASE TRY LATER. FOR CANCELLATION/FILE TDR, PLEASE CALL AT CUSTOMER CARE NO. 14646,08044647999 & 08035734999 OR MAIL AT etickets@irctc.co.in."
In addition, it also needs to be noted, that the IRCTC mobile application is also down, as users cannot seem to access the app altogether.
Upon opening the applications, the user interface carries and information saying 'Unable To Process Information'.
The non-availability and apparent breakdown of the website and application is happening during the peak of festivities, leading up to the new year, which often sees a significant amount of travelling, that transpires.

Many netizens who were vying to access the services of the application took to social media platform X to express their dismay, and alert the authorities.
One user claimed, "Please make a reel on trying to login to irctc portal at 10 AM for Tatkal ticket"
Another user added, "How can IRCTC website go down during tatkal timings???Why are we even bothering about building a bullet train when we can't even build a website?? @AshwiniVaishnaw @VSOMANNA_BJP #IRCTC"
Another user claimed, "@RailMinIndia @AshwiniVaishnaw @PMOIndia when this fraud will stop, always at 10am irctc website crashes and when you open again all tatkal tickets get booked but only premium tickets with double prices are available, this is a clear scam by @IRCTCofficial @raghav_chadha"
Another user quipped, "Please leave this business you guys are not capable. Hire talent or privatize this fully."

This is also happening at a time, when users book Tatkal tickets. This, as Tatkal booking opens at 10 AM for AC Classes and 11 AM for NON-AC Classes on a day in advance actual date of journey excluding date of journey.
