According to some reports, the IT-sector union Nascent Information Technology Employees Senate (NITES), which had pegged the number of trainees fired at around 700, had a meeting with Infosys. These firings allegedly happened after the trainees failed the company's internal assessment test.

This meeting, according to the union, was the 'definition of corporate exploitation,' as the union members were not allowed to take their phones to the meeting.
In addition, it was conducted under intimidatory circumstances, wherein guards were situated both outside and inside the meeting room. They were also asked to sign NDAs.

Rigorous Testing

In the test conducted in 2024, as many as 930 trainees took the test, of which only 160 passed the first round, and only 140 passed in the second round. It is to be noted, that the Bengaluru-based has not denied firing its trainees.

Left On The Street
In addition to this, new reports have also emerged in the matter, that have underscored the perils of those who were left, literally on the street after firing.
As suggested before, many were not given time to facilitate their return to their hometowns. These trainees were asked to leave on the same day.
In one of the cases, according to a Live Mint report, a female trainee, who had to go all the way back to Madhya Pradesh and could not find a way back home, pleaded with the company authorities for assistance.
Infosys representatives, in this case, reportedly responded to this by saying that she is no longer part of the company and did not know, how, but, she had to leave the company premises by 6 PM.
The union has said it will take legal recourse and that it is preparing to file a formal complaint with the Indian Labour Ministry.
