Mumbai: IPL 2019 may have just been over but the wait for Cricket World Cup 2019 is short now.

If one observes, this World Cup, a lot of Indian brands such as Kent RO and Amul are sponsoring international teams. These renowned Indian brands are broadening the consumer base and creating a global name for themselves.

Water purifier brand, Kent RO recently announced its sponsorship for the Sri Lankan team. This is may be the first time that an Indian brand would be sponsoring an overseas team on such as a scale. Kent RO will hold the title of ‘National Team Principal Sponsor’ while MAS Holdings, one of the largest apparel and textile manufacturers in South Asia will be supporting the team as the ‘Clothing Partner’.

Kent RO’s CMD Dr. Mahesh Gupta said, “We are really excited to be sponsoring Sri Lanka National cricket team in World Cup. World Cup is the most popular format of the game and the highest order of agility, concentration and expert skill of the game.”

Amul has been signed by Afghanistan as a sponsor for the Cricket World Cup 2019. Its logo will appear on Afghanistan team’s jerseys as well as on the training kits throughout the World Cup.

Amul has been associated with Afghanistan for a long time now. The brand has always been an advocate of rural upliftment and women empowerment, something that has been greatly recognized in Afghanistan. In fact, Amul has been providing milk powders and baby food in the country for the past 20 years.

GCMMF Managing Director RS Sodhi said, “We are excited about being associated with Afghanistan Cricket for the first time and Amul is hopeful that this team, rated as the fastest growing team in International cricket, will deliver outstanding performance in the World Cup”.

In other sponsorship news, Sandals Resorts International (SRI) was signed as the official sponsor for the West Indian team last year. All teams being men and women, U15 and senior teams, will sport the official SRI logo on their kits.

Sponsorship money can be seen moving from across the border as well. While we are talking about Indian brands venturing beyond boundaries, the Indian cricket team is being sponsored by the Chinese smartphone brand, OPPO. In 2017, OPPO won the bid to sponsor the Indian national cricket team and achieved the rights to display their logo on the team’s kits from 2017 to 2022.

The Cricket World Cup 2019 which will run from 30 May to 14 July, will be held in England and Wales and expected to attract millions of eyeballs.
