ICICI Bank Q3 Earnings Reveals Profit After Tax Jumps 16%; Net Interest Income Surge Over 9%

The net profit of ICICI Bank, the second-largest private sector bank, increased 16.6 per cent to Rs 12,883.37 crore in the third quarter of fiscal year 2025 from Rs 11,052.60 crore in the same period last year. Sequentially, the net profit decreased by 0.5 per cent from Q2 FY25's Rs 12,947.77.

The bank's total assets increased 14.7 per cent year over year to Rs 25,31,488 crore.

A 9.1 per cent increase from Rs 18,678 crore the year before to Rs 20,370.6 crore was also reported by the lender as net interest income.

Gross and net NPA (Non performing assets) Q3 FY25

In the quarter under review, the net non-performing loan (NPA) ratio stayed stable at 0.42 per cent, while the non-performing loan provisioning coverage ratio was 78.2 per cent at the end of December.

In Q3 of FY25, the gross non-performing asset ratio improved marginally from Q2's 1.97 per cent to 1.96 per cent. Compared to Rs 5,916 crore in Q1 and Rs 5,073 crore in Q2 of FY25, gross non-performing assets (NPA) additions came to Rs 6,085 crore in Q3.

The first and third quarters of the fiscal year usually see the largest NPA additions from the Kisan credit card portfolio, according to ICICI Bank. In the quarter, the bank wrote off gross non-performing assets (NPAs) totaling Rs 2,011 crore.

Q3 FY25 Deposits and advances

Total period-end deposits at ICICI Bank increased by 1.5 per cent sequentially and 14.1 per cent year-over-year in Q3, totaling Rs 15,20,309 crore. Average deposits increased as well, rising 2.1 per cent sequentially and 13.7 per cent year over year to Rs 14,58,489 crore for the quarter.

CASA Deposits Q3 FY25

The average deposits in current accounts increased by 13.1 per cent year over year and 4.5 per cent sequentially, while the average deposits in savings accounts increased by 12.3 per cent year over year and 1.3 per cent sequentially. In the third quarter, the average current account to savings account (CASA) ratio was 39 per cent.
