First time on Central Railway: Intensive Examination of freight train by Women team at Kalyan Goods Yard

Despite the Covid challenges, Railways transport essential commodities and other materials to keep the supply chain in motion. The freight trains are examined at various nominated locations after certain trips for their rail worthiness so that the momentum is not broken.

First time on the Central Railway, a women team has been formed at Kalyan Goods Yard for intensive examination of freight/goods rake. One such rake of 44 BOST type empty wagons meant for steel loading was examined by the all women team on 8.6.2021. The entire 10-member women team was deployed for under gear examination, air brake testing, examination of under frames, side panels and for on rake attention of defective components and other related repairs. The intensive examination of the rake was completed within 4 and half hours and was made fit for the next trip.

The names of the women in the team: Archana Jadhav, Jyoti Damodare, Ashwani Patil, Shweta Suryavanshi, Priyanka Kholekar, Dipali, Sunita, Savita, Sujata and Kushbu.

Central Railway during April-May 2021, transported 12.57 million tonnes of freight as compared to 7.55 million tonnes during the same period in 2020 achieving 66.5% increase.
