New Delhi: In a major relief for daily highway commuters, the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways will roll out a FASTag Annual Pass starting August 15, 2025. The new initiative aims to ease travel and eliminate the hassle of frequent recharges for regular users.

The pass is priced at Rs 3,000 and will offer 200 toll-free trips or validity of one year—whichever comes first—on National Highways (NH) and National Expressways (NE) managed by NHAI.

Who Can Use the FASTag Annual Pass?

This pass is only for private non-commercial vehicles like cars, jeeps, and vans. It is not valid for commercial vehicles such as trucks and tempos. It is ideal for people who:

- Regularly travel on national highways and expressways

- Make about 200 trips per year

- Want to avoid multiple recharges and toll payments

Once the 200 trips or one-year period is over, regular toll charges will apply as usual.

How to Get the Annual Pass

Getting the FASTag Annual Pass is simple and fully digital:

- You must have an active FASTag linked to your private, non-commercial vehicle.

- The FASTag must be correctly placed on your vehicle’s windshield.

- Visit the Rajmarg Yatra app or NHAI’s official website (www.nhai.gov.in).

- Pay Rs 3,000 via your FASTag wallet or linked bank account.

After verification, the pass will be linked to your FASTag and activated on August 15, 2025.

Where Is the Pass Valid?

The FASTag Annual Pass will be valid only at toll plazas located on National Highways and National Expressways operated by NHAI.

It will not be accepted at:

- State Highways

- Expressways managed by state governments or local authorities

- Parking lots or any other user-fee facilities outside the NHAI network

At such locations, the FASTag will function as usual, and applicable charges will be deducted.

Commercial Vehicles Not Included

This annual pass is not applicable to commercial vehicles. Trucks, tempos, and other commercial transport must continue paying tolls as per existing rules. The current initiative is only for private vehicles to promote ease of travel.
