New Delhi: The Officers of Bureau of Indian Standards with the help of local police conducted raid at the factory of M/s Hindustan Thermometer, New Delhi, manufacturing Clinical Thermometers. During the search and seizure, the company was found to be misusing the Standard Mark of BIS on Clinical Thermometers having brand names ‘HINDUSTAN’ & ‘ Apollo Pharmacy’, without having valid BIS Certification Marks thus violating Sections 11(1) of Bureau of Indian Standards Act 1986. As per BIS Act, the use of ISI mark without having licence from BIS or its imitation is a punishable offence with fine upto 50,000 or imprisonment upto 1 year or both.
