Mumbai: The Employees' Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) has again extended the deadline for some important steps related to the Employment Linked Incentive (ELI) Scheme. Now, employees can activate their Universal Account Number (UAN) and link their bank account with Aadhaar till June 30, 2025. This deadline has already been extended several times earlier.

What is UAN?

UAN is a 12-digit number given by EPFO to salaried employees. It is unique for each person and stays the same, even if the person changes jobs. UAN helps employees to access and manage their Provident Fund (PF) easily online.

How to Activate UAN?

Employees can activate their UAN using Aadhaar-based OTP (One-Time Password). Here are the simple steps:

- Visit the EPFO Member Portal.

- Under the section “Important Links,” click on “Activate UAN.”

- Enter your UAN, Aadhaar number, name, date of birth, and mobile number linked with Aadhaar.

- Click “Agree” to give permission for Aadhaar OTP verification.

- Click on “Get Authorization PIN” to receive the OTP on your Aadhaar-linked mobile number.

- Enter the OTP to complete the activation.

- Once your UAN is activated, you will get a password on your registered mobile number.

Why UAN Activation is Important

Activating your UAN lets you use many online services from EPFO. These include:

- Viewing and downloading your PF passbook

- Managing your PF account

- Submitting claims online for advance, withdrawal, or transfer

Updating personal details

For those who want to get benefits under the ELI Scheme, it is compulsory to activate their UAN and link their bank account with Aadhaar.

This move will give more time to employees to complete the required steps and enjoy the benefits of the scheme.
