Mumbai: If you have any bank-related work coming up, it’s best to plan ahead. In August 2025, banks across different states in India will remain closed for several days. Many public and religious holidays fall in this month, including Independence Day, Raksha Bandhan, and Janmashtami.

According to the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) holiday calendar, banks will be closed on different dates in different zones. Every state has its own holiday schedule based on local festivals and events.

Full List of Bank Holidays in August 2025

- August 3 (Sunday) – Weekly off. Also, Ker Puja holiday in Tripura.

- August 8 – Banks closed in Sikkim and Odisha for Tendong Lho Rum Faat.

- August 9 – Raksha Bandhan holiday in Uttarakhand, UP, Haryana, MP, Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan.

- August 13 – Patriots’ Day holiday in Manipur.

- August 15 – Independence Day (national holiday across India).

- August 16 – Janmashtami and Parsi New Year in Gujarat and Maharashtra.

- August 26 – Ganesh Chaturthi holiday in Karnataka and Kerala.

- August 27 – Ganesh Chaturthi (Day 2) in AP, Goa, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Punjab, Odisha, Sikkim, TN, Telangana.

- August 28 – Nuakhai holiday in Odisha, Punjab, Sikkim.

- August 10 & 23 – Second and fourth Saturdays (banks closed nationwide).

- August 10, 17, 24, 31 – Sundays (weekly offs).

Digital Banking Services Will Continue

While physical bank branches will be shut, digital services like mobile banking, internet banking, UPI, and ATMs will continue to work as usual. Customers are advised to finish any urgent banking tasks in advance to avoid last-minute trouble.
