Actress Navneet Kaur Thind is all set to play a key role in Aditya Roy Kapur and Mrunal Thakur's upcoming film 'Gumrah'. She was recently seen in Randeep Hooda's much-talked-about spy thriller 'CAT', and has been receiving quite some positive responses for her part.

The Free Press Journal caught up with Navneet for an exclusive chat wherein she spoke about the feedback she has received for CAT, her role in 'Gumrah', challenges in showbiz as an outsider, and more.

Excerpts:

What is the response that you've been receiving for CAT?

The response has been overwhelming! Everyone has loved the show. Everywhere I go people are talking about the show and saying amazing things. I have been receiving messages from across the world with lots of praises and compliments.

Tell us about your role in Gumrah?

I am playing a small part in the movie 'Gumrah' starring Aditya Roy kapoor and Mrunal Thakur. I had auditioned for the role and that is how I got it.

How was your experience working with the cast of 'Gumrah'?

My working experience in Gumrah was really good. I was kind of intimidated by the actors there with whom I was doing the scenes. Mrunal was extremely nice. She's a very chilled person who takes an effort to make her co-stars as comfortable as possible so that we don't get intimidated. She kept talking to me about various things and we laughed around.

But Ronit Roy sir is very intimidating to work around with because he's so experienced and we have grown up seeing his work for so many years. But with Mrunal, as she comes from my generation, it was a very comfortable vibe to shoot with her. Also, when you work with experienced actors like Ronit sir, there's so much that you get to observe and learn from them which is something I really enjoyed while shooting. Because I could see his behaviour on set and the way he approaches any scene. So there was a lot that I could take back from him as a learning.

Has the boom in OTT made it easier for new actors today?

It definitely has brought in more number of opportunities, but I won’t say it's the easiest. We still have to be good at what we do, but yes, we have more opportunities to prove ourselves than there were in the past before OTT came in.

Being an outsider, what challenges did you face in the industry?

I honestly don’t think I have reached the place yet wherein I get to be auditioning against star kids or famous personalities. But being an outsider generally is very difficult for all the actors coming from across the country. We have to start from scratch, build a life here, try meeting and working with people we don’t know anything about.

What are your future projects?

So far, it's just 'Gumrah'. I am looking out for other scripts as well.
