Manipuri actress Lin Laishram, who has been a part of a number of Bollywood films including 'Om Shanti Om', 'Mary Kom', 'Rangoon', and others, was recently seen breaking down on social media over the violence that has erupted in her home state.

It all began after the high court's decision to the Manipur government on the inclusion of Meiteis in the Scheduled Tribes category.

The protests have been turning more violent with each passing day and the government has now issued shoot-at-sight orders to get a grip on the unrest in the state.

In the videos, she could be seen breaking down in tears and pleading people to stop the violence. She stated that the protestors have been setting houses on fire indiscriminately and that it is a dangerous situation for people to live in.

"So many people are affected. As I make this video, my mother is packing her bags, my family is trying to put off the fire. Please stop the violence," she said through her tears.

She also wrote, "Please pray for Manipur. Violence is not the answer my dear folks. Every life matters."

For the unversed, Lin is also in a relationship with actor Randeep Hooda.

Protests erupted in Torbung area in Churachandpur district of Manipur during the 'Tribal Solidarity March' organised by the All Tribal Student Union Manipur (ATSUM) on Wednesday against the demand of Meiteis for Scheduled Tribe (ST) status.

About 53 per cent of the entire population of Manipur are Meiteis but they occupy only about 10 per cent of the land area of the state. Inclusion in the ST list will enable the Meiteis to purchase land in the hill areas of the state, which is predominantly inhabited by the tribals.

The march was organised by the tribal groups after the Manipur High Court asked the state government to send a recommendation to the Centre within four weeks on the demand for ST status by the Meitei community.

Thousands of people have been displaced in Manipur and Union Home Minister Amit Shah is now holding meetings with top officials and monitoring the situation from the Centre.
